Hometown: Llantwit Major, Wales
I was a club swimmer as a child for St Athan Swimming Club (later merged with Cardiff) and then switched to the local SLSA club set up by my parents to encourage the local youngsters to take up sea swimming. I loved the social element of the club and ended up teaching the youngsters and working my Summers as a Surf Lifeguard.
I then went on to get an arts degree and spent my formative years teaching art or building random items for sets and dramas. Observational training and creative thinking have been a surprising bonus to my swimming teaching abilities!
After having children I spent many hours watching swimming lessons and decided I would love to get back in the swim. So, here I am, and really enjoying the challenge of developing the swim school into a place of technical excellence, offering a breadth of aquatic disciplines, proactively inclusive and run by teacher-coaches with a lively cohort of volunteers.
I am also Masters Coach at Kidlington, TriFit Coach at Nuffield, freelance School Swimming Instructor at University Pools and run my own open water swimming group.
