City of Oxford’s Head Coach is off to the Gold Coast

City of Oxford Swimming Club are proud and excited to announce that our Head Coach Amanda Booth has been selected to be part of the Team England (Swim England) Coaching Team for the Common Wealth Games in the Gold Coast. Amanda will be part of the 20 strong coaching team for this multi sports event taking place in April.

Amanda’s selection is also part of an initiative from the Commonwealth Games Federation in partnership with Griffith University, who have initiated a Women’s Coach Internship Programme for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The aim of the internship programme is to provide more opportunities to fully integrate female coaches into the coaching teams for the Gold Coast games.

Booth commented on her selection: “I am delighted and excited to have been offered a position on the CGF Women’s Coach Internship Programme.

“This appointment will give me invaluable experience of working with senior international swimmers. I will also have a chance to work with high-performance coaches and support staff at a multi-sport Games.

“I am looking forward to being part of Team England and being able to share my experiences on my return with the swimmers, other female coaches and in my work next season as a coach advisor.”

This appointment of Amanda on the team and her recent attendance in 2017 at the Youth Common Wealth Games is bringing new opportunities and increasing the standards of training at the City of Oxford Swimming Club. The committee and coaching team at the City of Oxford believe we will see future growth and opportunities for our swimmers to progress the swimming skills they need to attend these games themselves in the future based on this appointment.
