Round two of the Oxfordshire & North Bucks County Championships saw a medal bonanza for City of Oxford Swimming Club with the girls’ relay teams continuing City’s domination of the pool, winning all four relay events. The 13-14 year old 4 x 50m freestyle relay team of Erin Gilchrist, Megan Smit, Zoe Coombs and Safiya Sillah took gold for Oxford A in 1.58.19. The 4 x 50m medley relay saw the Oxford B team of Cathryn Peake, Delphine Little, Tiana Porter and Megan Smit take gold in 4.10.26, just 0.3 seconds in front of the Oxford A team of Mimi Morley Iszatt, Safiya Sillah, Erin Gilchrist and Zoe Coombs who took silver in 4.10.59. |
In the 11-12 year old category Evie Mclean, Ayanna Fulga, Lara Mills and Gretel Goodgame took gold for Oxford A in 2.04.80. Mclean, Fulga, Mills and Goodgame repeated their success with gold in the 4 x 50m medley relay in 2.19.47. The Oxford B team of Libby Gotta, Grace O’Gorman, Susie Heron and Natalya Keller finished 5th in 2.32.72. The Oxford B team of Gotta, Keller, Heron and Saskia Boyns also finished 5th in the 4 x 50m freestyle in 2.16.18.
In the Men’s Open 400m Individual Medley County Championship Fabian Whitbread, David Murphy and Luke Thomas provided a clean sweep of the medals, with Whitbread taking Gold in 4.24.87, Murphy silver in 4.27.60 and Thomas bronze in 4.19.10. In the Men’s Junior 400m IM County Championship 15 year old Ewan Springett took silver in 4.49.40.
In the Women’s Open 400m IM County Championship16 year old Emily Wood finished strongly to take gold in 4.53.96, with teammate Emily Nisbet taking bronze in 4.58.40. 15 year old Annie Sharp added a bronze medal in the Junior 400IM County Championship in 5.12.06.
In the Women’s Open 400m freestyle County Championship 16 year old Nisbet made it three podium positions from three events with Silver in 4.26.25, with 16 year old Eleanor McNally taking bronze in 4.29.06. In the Junior Championship 15 year old Chiara de Vita took bronze in 4.38.21. In the Men’s Junior 400m freestyle Springett took bronze in 4.11.07.
Chris Currie took Gold in the Men’s multi-classification 400m freestyle in 4.48.73 with 11 year old Libby Gotta taking gold in the Girl’s multi-classification 400m freestyle in 5.42.45.
In the age group categories (age at end of year) Evie McLean took gold in the girl’s 12 year old 400m IM in 5.55.89 with Gretel Goodgame taking bronze in 6.04.35. Goodgame added to her medal tally with gold in the 400m freestyle in 5.09.95. In the 13 year old category Delphine Little took bronze in 5.23.65, as did Dotty Goodgame in the 15 year old category in 5.31.12. Annie Sharp took gold in the 16 year old category in 5.12.06, with Alissa Clarke taking silver in 5.21.02 and Weiyi Tan completing a City clean sweep with bronze in 5.25.22. Clarke added silver in the 400m freestyle in 4.41.57 with Emily Nisbet taking silver and Eleanor Mcnally bronze in the 17yr and over age group. In the 400m IM 17year & over category Wood took gold with Nisbet taking bronze. Megan Smit took silver in the 13 year 400m freestyle in 4.46.42 with Chiara De Vita also taking silver in the 15 year old category in 4.38.21.
In the age group categories for the men’s 400m freestyle Oliver Conway took bronze in the 10-11 year olds in 5.58.81, Freddie Cooke added a silver in the 12 year olds in 5.02.50 and a silver in the 400m IM in 5.50.13. The 13 year old 400m freestyle saw a City one-two with Billy Wotton (4.40.41) taking gold to edge out teammate Nicholas Skelton (4.41.78) who took silver, a position that was repeated in the 400 IM with Wooton taking gold in 5.09.45 and Skelton silver in 5.17.83. In the 15 year old category Daniel Jenkins had a successful weekend taking gold in the 400m freestyle in 4.16.99 and gold in the 400m IM in 4.52.12. Ewan Springett took silver in the 400m IM in 4.49.44 and bronze in the 400m freestyle in the 16 year old category.
