Oxon and North Bucks County Championships 2017
City of Oxford swimmers made a great start to their bid to remain County Champions at the Oxon and North Bucks County Championships in the distance and team relay events. The first weekend at Leys Pool on Sunday 8 January saw the boys 1500m, girls 800m and boys’ relay events.
In the 1500m Lewis Gilchrist took 3rd place on the open championship whilst in the junior championship COSC dominated the podium with Daniel Jenkins taking 1st, Max Underwood 2nd and Billy Wotton 3rd place.
The girls followed in the 800m with Emily Wood taking 2nd place in the open championship and junior Megan Smit(13) coming an impressive 3rd place overall.
In the boys relays for the 200m SC Medley relay the 11-12 year old A team (Joseph Watkiss, Oli Conway, Andrew Taylor and Chris Skelton) took 3rd place.
The 13-14 year olds A team (Nick Skelton, Billy Wotton, Freddie Cooke and Miki Petrovic) took 2nd place in both the medley and freestyle relay.
The second weekend of the championships Sunday 15th Jan at Aquavale Aylesbury gave us the 400m freestyle and individual medley events and the girls’ relays.

For the relays the 13-14 year old girls team (Evie McLean, Delphine Little, Mimi Morley Iszatt and Megan Smit) took first place and in doing secured their place as age group medallists in both the medley and freestyle relay events.
February will see COSC return to Aquavale to compete in the main ONB County Championship events as they defend their title as county champions.
