The 2017/2018 season was truly successful for the City of Oxford Swimming Club and it swimmers, finishing 6th in the Arena League A Final, Top Junior and Top Overall Club in the Oxon & North Bucks County Championships and medals galore at the Summer nationals and international events that were attended. This success in the pool is being recognised for four of our swimmers, with them recently receiving notifications of their selection onto national development programmes.
Illizane Pinfold (14), Evie McLean (14) and Ellen Bagley (13) have been selected for Phase 1 of the Swim England National Development Programme and will see them attending specialised training programmes over three days in September, October and November. This is part of a series of development programmes that provides a pathway to support young swimmers in their quest to achieve senior international podium success.
Connor Bryan (18) has been selected to join the Swim Wales National Elite Programme. The Swim Wales National Squad Pathway is designed to provide appropriate levels of support to swimmers as they progress through the sport. The underlying principle is that it should support systematic success and contribute to Swim Wales’s performance objective; putting swimmers on the British Swimming pathway and achieving medal success at the major Games.
We wish them all the success in these national development programmes and we are sure we will see them featuring in more of our press releases over the 2018/2019 season.
