Ten City of Oxford swimmers qualified to compete at the 2016 ASA National Winter Meet. Taking place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield from 15-18 December, the event is the biggest short course event on the British domestic swimming calendar and sees the best of British swimming, including Olympic medalists Jazz Carlin and Chris Walker-Hebborn, among a world class field competing.
Making senior finals were 16 year-old Callum Smart in the 200m breaststroke in a new Oxfordshire and North Bucks junior county record time of 2.14.15, Toby Mackay-Champion in the 200m and 100m breaststroke and Emily Wood in the 200m breaststroke. Smart made the B final in the 100m breaststroke winning in another junior county record time of 1.02.47 and Mackay-Champion and Smart swam the B final in the 50m breaststroke. Wood qualified for the B final in the 100m breaststroke. Also qualifying to compete were Emily Ford, Tash Fenton, Connor Bryan, Emily Nisbet, Ellie Millington, Kate Mills and Daniel Jenkins.
