On the afternoon of Saturday 3 June, when most people were firing up their BBQs, our dedicated Oxford B Team swimmers were looking forward to some exciting competition at Aylesbury’s Aquavale Pool. Many of the swimmers were complete first timers, trying out their competition skills and building on the COSC diving workshop over the half term!
This was the first round of the Milton Keynes and District Junior League Division 2, and it saw Oxford finishing in 6th place with 148 points after 49 races. It was a close fought competition with the winning team, Linslade Crusaders, taking 179 points. In total, Oxford B won 2 first places and 5 second places – a great achievement and there will be an opportunity to move up the league in the next two rounds.
Oxford swimmers looked equally strong across all age groups and it was lovely to see all team members cheering throughout the evening, using our new shiny flags to help support. Stand out relays included strong swims for the 9 year-old girls, 10 year-old boys and 11 year-old boys medley teams, the 10 year-old boys freestyle relay and the final canons.
Thank you to all the coaches, parents and swimmers who participated in the meet and we look forward to round 2 in July.
